PRESIDENT'S REPORT
It is now time to look forward to our new
theatrical season with our Fall and Spring Productions – “A Chorus
Line” is now cast and in rehearsal, very successful auditions were
held in August and a superb cast has been chosen. Our Producers,
Diane and Sandi are thrilled and along with an excellent Production
team, things are certainly well under way. It is so nice to see so
many of our newer members taking such an interest in GCP, not just
to appear on stage but very willing to help with the Production.
Their enthusiasm and love for this Company is very evident and it is
very refreshing to see. Again much success to “A Chorus Line”, it is
going to be a great Show. Preparations are underway for the 100th Spring
Production, a Show has been proposed and accepted, but at this
stage, there will not be an announcement made, until “A Chorus Line”
is mounted. This is in keeping with GCP’s policy, that all our focus
goes into the Production now on the boards – We are pleased to announce that
ticket sales are going very well for “A Chorus Line” - the new
system is working and we are delighted with the results to date.
Make sure to order your tickets through gcp.tix.com – it is so easy
– it is fast and efficient. For those, who do not have
computer access, our Box Office Manager, Jane Wood will be pleased
to assist you. The Board is delighted that Jane has taken on the
role of Box Office Manager for the Company and is doing an
exceptional job. She even received muffins from a Patron who she
helped and accommodated with her ticket order. Well done Jane -
great PR for our Company. Now to the business side, the
AGM is fast approaching and the Board members are all preparing
their Reports to share with you at the Meeting. Saturday, September
18th at 2.00pm at the Barn – please show your support in attending.
This is your Company and the Board is there working on your behalf –
we need to see your interest, that we are doing the work required of
us and to let us know where we can improve and take your ideas and
suggestions to further benefit the Company. There are three
positions open on the Board with four candidates running.
Please show your support by either sending in your proxy, (received
in the August Newsletter, if eligible to vote) or plan to attend and
place your vote during the elections. We look forward to seeing as
many of you there as possible and the Social Committee will serve
refreshments at the close of the meeting. Also this month, GCP will be
participating in the Grape and Wine Festival, Mary Ann O’Neill-Park
is heading up the committee and there is no doubt we will have an
outstanding float. Please cheer your fellow members on in the Parade
as they represent GCP at this special annual event. Perhaps too,
offer to be part of this day and be available to join in the Parade
also, I know Mary Ann would be pleased to have as many as possible,
promoting GCP. Best of luck Mary Ann and to all who have offered to
help in this endeavour. Once again we have been asked
to attend an evening at the Library promoting GCP. This will be the
third year and again Dave Calvert has made all the arrangements for
us on September 30th. Dave is amazing in his role of PR
representative for us and gets across to an avid audience how
important GCP is and what we do – last year we added some
entertainment provided by Norm Harding which was so well received
- both these two gentlemen excelled and represented GCP in a most
positive light. Thank-you both and much success in this year’s
event.
Until next time Jean
